One of those paintings that took me a decade to finish. Not because i was working on it constantly, but just because i forgot about it for years at a time. The first file i have of this one is dated August 2009. I finally finished it in December of 2019. Bloody hell.
Anyway, this piece is inspired by HP Lovecraft’s “The Shadow Over Innsmouth,” one of my favorite HP stories. It’s from the passage in which the protagonist escapes from the Gillman house and the fish-frog people go chasing after him. Why an amphibian would need to wear a raincoat i do not know — especially since it isn’t even raining.
